Clark’s Model United Nations team competed at the BruinMUN 2017 Conference in UCLA on the weekend of November 11 2017. It was the MUN team’s first time competing at UCLA, and they came back with some hardware.

Juniors Chanel Pulido and Taylor Bronson teamed up to take earn an Honorable Mention award in Economic and Social Counsil (ECOSOC). Pulido is also an officer in Clark’s MUN club.

“Going into the competition, I didn’t really know what to expect,” says Pulido. “Taylor and I worked really hard to get an award, and were ecstatic to have it pay off.”

Junior Jaiya McMillan received the Best Delegate award in the novice category of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The Best Delegate Award is the highest award available to individual competitors in Model United Nations competitions.

“With BruinMUN being our first national conference, the intensity of the competition was unlike that of any conference we’ve participated in before,” says Pulido. “It was such a fun experience and I can’t wait to go back next year.”

“Our future, represented by students like those in attendance this weekend, is undoubtedly in good hands,” said BruinMUN Secretary General Alex Guziak. “I wish everyone a restful week, and again my deepest thanks go out to everyone who helped make BruinMUN 2017 a success.”
