At a press conference on Sunday, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced that Clark County School District schools will be closed through April 6 at a minimum. This announcement follows similar announcements across the nation, with Los Angeles and New York City’s school districts also announcing school closures.

This decision comes amid union, parent, and student requests and petitioning for school closures in the wake of COVID-19.

“[Nevada] schools may not reopen until the State Chief Medical Officer evaluates the public health risk and determines when it is safe for each district to reopen,” said Sisolak. “We will continue to be in contact with districts, teachers, and parents and provide updated timeline info as it becomes available.”
