Events were rolling one after another one for the Nevada Day Weekend and Cadets
worked hard!
On October 26th, observed Nevada Day, our cadets came to volunteer their time at the
YMCA’s Trunk or Treat event. The Trunk or Treat event is where food vendors, antique cars,
and entertainers come together to give candy to children as well as provide a spoooooky night!
More than 3,000 people attended, but the number of people did not make the job less doable. Our
cadets contributed to the event by cleaning up the area, handing out raffles, directing the people
and cars, and et cetera. Great job to everyone who participated!
The next day, Oct 27th, our cadets participated in the Las Vegas Walk to End
Alzheimer’s. The walk was held by the Alzheimer’s Association and it is an event to raise
awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. As volunteers, our cadets
helped with set up the event, registration and check in, and water stations. Thousands of people
attended, making it a success!
Later that day afternoon, our cadets were part of 2 respective events. Our NJROTC color
guard gave a presentation of the national colors at Hands Together hosted by Volunteers in
Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN) in The Venetian Palazzo Ballroom. While
simultaneously, our leadership cadets helped to clean up in Bike MS: Las Vegas. Hands
Together was hosted to celebrate the success of VMSN and raised vital funds to care for
uninsured, low-income patients. Bike MS: Las Vegas is a fundraising cycling event to awareness
about Multiple Sclerosis and raise funds to find a cure.
Springs Preserve hosted their another Haunted Harvest on Oct 28. It is a family-friendly
event featuring trick-or-treat candy stations to visit throughout their “Bootanical” Garden,
carnival games, petting zoo, craft activities, and et cetera. Our Cadets were assigned to stations,
such as passing candies out to children. It was a fun night for everyone attended.
That was a lot of events and a very busy Nevada Day weekend indeed! All those events
are making a difference in our community. So good job to everyone participated and made those
events possible!
